What a review means here
An animedoll.ca review is a desk-based buying analysis, not a laboratory evaluation or an account of physical ownership. We do not test dolls in person. Our conclusions are drawn from current store listings, published dimensions, material descriptions, catalogue photographs, shipping terms and attributable public owner reports when available.
This approach has limits. A photograph cannot prove softness, odour, joint longevity or how a courier will treat an individual shipment. A retailer’s claim about a material can inform the comparison, but it is not an independent certification. We state what is known, and the remaining uncertainty is part of the buying advice.
We avoid invented star ratings, neat numerical scores and model-specific praise without a supporting detail. The aim is to explain trade-offs that a buyer can verify at checkout.

1. Face sculpt and paint
We look for the actual head model, clear multi-angle images and consistency between the product name and the pictured configuration. Eye proportions, eyelid shape, sculpt transitions, lashes and face paint define an anime-style product, so they deserve careful attention.
First we screen for unequivocally adult appearance. Then we compare the face as a designed object: how readable it is without the wig, whether accessories conceal joins and whether the seller supplies photos of the selected production model. Rendering quality is not a replacement for manufacturing evidence.
We do not claim the paint remains unchanged after years unless a reliable manufacturer or independent long-term source actually supports that assertion.

2. Skin and material
We record the body material, head material and any separately described inserts. TPE, silicone and mixed construction carry different maintenance and budget questions. If a shop’s title says full silicone but the specification table says silicone head plus TPE body, the contradiction is flagged rather than silently corrected.
Surface softness, drag and colour-transfer vulnerability are discussed as general material considerations or sourced seller guidance. We do not independently certify a formulation as medical-grade, platinum-cured, hypoallergenic or free from particular chemicals.
For a face-focused collector, extra money for silicone may be reasonable. For a storage-focused or lower-budget buyer, a TPE body may be the sensible option. Both conclusions depend on the actual item and maintenance policy.

3. Skeleton and construction
We look for documented height and assembled weight in metric units, joint types, standing-foot options, neck fittings and repair information. A product photograph showing a pose is not evidence that every buyer can recreate it safely. We consider whether the maker gives realistic handling and storage instructions.
We distinguish a rigid torso, a scaled adult mini and a full-height articulated body because their practical demands differ. When packed size or gross mass is not shown, we avoid inventing it. These gaps often become a question to send to the seller.
Electronics and heating options are treated as separate support and repair considerations rather than presumed improvements.

4. Store, delivery and support
A good description should identify the billing currency, dispatch route, country of origin when known, tax treatment, returns restrictions and defect-claim path. For Canadians, a nominal bargain can become expensive once GST/HST, potential duty, carrier fees and currency conversion are included.
We prefer written policies and item-specific answers over promotional statements. A store in the United States is not proof of US origin. A retailer that says it ships in plain cartons has not guaranteed that every carrier will handle every parcel in the same way.
We record the month when evidence was read, so a reader can see that a price or shipment detail may have changed.
Inclusion, removal and funding
A model may enter a lookbook when the design is clearly adult, its material and main dimensions are documented, and the merchant’s Canada-serving route can be reasonably described. We try to distribute selection across stores and do not accept paid placement for positive verdicts. A strong affiliate programme is not a substitute for a complete specification.
We remove or withhold products with ambiguous age presentation, unsupported claims, contradictory materials or an inadequate source. If an important field is missing, we use an unverified note rather than a plausible-sounding estimate.
Our intention is to revisit key prices and policies monthly. Readers and sellers can submit corrections, but neither source of feedback gives a store editorial veto power.
